FAQs

Your questions,
answered honestly.

Everything you need to know before booking — from what we treat to how a first appointment actually works.

1

What conditions do you treat as a naturopath?

Our primary focus is gut and digestive health, hormonal health, and complex presentations where symptoms haven't been clearly explained through conventional medicine. If you've been told your results are normal but you still don't feel well — this is exactly where naturopathic investigation begins.

We work with a wide range of conditions including SIBO, bloating and abdominal pain, IBS, gut dysbiosis or infection, reflux and GORD, chronic low iron and other nutritional deficiency, post antibiotic recovery, post gastroenteritis recovery, chronic constipation, endometriosis, PMOS (previously PCOS), PMS, PMDD, perimenopause and postmenopause, thyroid conditions, chronic fatigue, irregular and painful periods, post pill irregular periods, vaginal microbiome care, preconception, pregnancy, and postpartum care.

2

What kind of testing should I get, and what does a naturopath test for?

One of the most common things people say when they arrive at Bunmark Health is: "I've had tests and everything came back normal — but I still feel terrible." Standard GP pathology is designed to rule out disease. Functional naturopathic testing is designed to find what's driving your symptoms.

We uses a combination of standard pathology and advanced functional testing depending on your presentation. You won't be sent for unnecessary tests — investigation is guided by your individual symptom picture and health history.

3

How is naturopathic care different from seeing my GP or a specialist?

Naturopathic care and conventional medicine are not in opposition — they work best alongside each other. The difference is in the questions asked, the time taken, and the goal of treatment.

Conventional medicine excels at diagnosing and treating disease. Naturopathic medicine asks what is driving the symptoms that sit beneath or before a formal diagnosis — and what needs to change for the body to function better as well as prevent disease. We work collaboratively with medical professionals and other practitioners so that you can have a well-rounded network of care.

4

Do you offer telehealth consultations, and how does it work?

Yes — telehealth consultations are available and work just as well as in-person appointments for the vast majority of presentations. Naturopathic care is largely conversation, investigation, and planning — all of which translate seamlessly to video.

Telehealth appointments are conducted via a secure, private video platform. You'll receive a link before your appointment. All you need is a stable internet connection, a quiet space, and ideally a device with a front-facing camera.

Functional testing, and supplement or herbal prescriptions can be arranged remotely.

5

How does an initial consultation work, and what should I expect?

Your initial consultation with Katrina is 60 minutes — because understanding why you feel the way you do takes more than a 15 appointment allows. This is the appointment where the thread gets followed properly.

Before you arrive — intake form

You'll complete a detailed health history intake form before your appointment. This lets Katrina review your background in advance so the appointment itself is focused on conversation and investigation rather than paperwork.

The consultation — 60 minutes

We will go through your full health history, current symptoms, diet, sleep, stress, medications, and anything that feels relevant — sometimes even if it seems unconnected. The connections between symptoms are often where the answers live. This is the appointment where you get to tell the whole story.

Investigation plan

If functional testing is indicated, Katrina will explain exactly what she wants to test, and why. You'll leave knowing what the next step is — not wondering what happens next.

Your treatment plan

A personalised plan covering diet, lifestyle, and where appropriate — targeted nutritional and herbal support. Everything is explained clearly. You'll understand why each recommendation is being made, and you'll have the final say in what you're comfortable with.

Ongoing support

Follow-up appointments review your progress, test results, and adjust your plan as needed. Most people find the picture becomes clearer — and the plan more targeted — over the first few appointments.

6

What if I don't want to take herbs or supplements?

That's completely fine — and it's a conversation we welcome. Supplements and herbal medicine are tools, not requirements. They are part of a much broader toolkit that includes diet, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, stress management, sleep support, and movement.

Some people prefer not to take supplements. Some already take too many and want to simplify. Whatever your situation — the approach is tailored to what works for you, not to a standard protocol applied to every patient.

Where supplements or herbs are recommended, you'll always understand what they are, what they do, what the evidence says, and why they're being suggested for your specific presentation. Nothing is prescribed without explanation, and nothing is prescribed without your agreement.

The goal is always for you to feel more in control of your health — not more reliant on a prescription. Diet, sleep, stress, and gut health fundamentals will always form the foundation of any plan, regardless of whether supplements are part of it.

7

Will I have to change my whole lifestyle?

No. And honestly — being told to overhaul everything at once is one of the most counterproductive things a practitioner can do. Sustainable change happens incrementally, not overnight.

Our approach is to work with your actual life — your schedule, your food preferences, your capacity, your circumstances. Recommendations are prioritised: the things most likely to move the needle for you specifically come first, and everything else is built gradually from there.

You are the expert in your own life. The role of naturopathic care is to give you the information, the investigation, guidance and motivation, and the tools to make changes that actually stick — on your own terms.
