Pear and Apple Crumble

P & A Base


Ingredients


2 apples roughly chopped, skin on - leaving the skin on adds texture, fibre, and nutrients

2 pears roughly chopped, skin on

1/2 tsp cinnamon powder

1/4 tsp nutmeg powder

4 clove buds

1 cup filtered water

Juice of one small lemon


Method


1. Add all ingredients to a saucepan and simmer with the lid on until pear and apple is soft.

Tip. Use this time to prep crumble.

2. Remove lid, continue to simmer on low heat, and allow water to almost completely evaporate

3. Add mixture to a small-medium sized baking dish and smooth flat



Crumble Top


Ingredients


2 cups organic rolled oats

1/4 cup sulphur free shredded coconut

1/4 cup slivered almonds

1 Tbsp. raw honey, softened (choose Manuka for extra immune and gut health over the winter)

1/2 tsp cinnamon powder

1/4 tsp nutmeg powder


Method


1. Pre-heat oven to 170 °C

2. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl

Tip. To soften honey place glass jar in a bowl of boiled water. Do not do this with a plastic container, decant first. Do not microwave honey.

3. Cover apple and pear mix in baking dish

4. Bake for 25 mins or until golden brown


Serve hot with berries and coconut yoghurt
